Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy Ring 2 exists and said almost nothing else. The reporting around it is more specific: early 2027, thinner, nine to ten days of battery, better sleep and heart insights, and a hint at iPhone support that would change the smart ring market. Here is what is sourced, what is guessed, and whether to wait.

The short answer
The Galaxy Ring 2 is not coming in 2026. Samsung confirmed in June that a next-generation ring is in development, and the most credible reporting points at early 2027, most likely the Galaxy Unpacked that launches the S27 phones in January or February. The upgrades being described are a thinner, lighter body, battery stretched from seven days toward nine or ten, better sleep and cardiovascular insights, and a strong hint of iPhone support. Price has not leaked. The original launched at $399 in July 2024, and that is the only anchor anyone has.
If you landed here from a search, you probably want one of three things: a date, a reason to wait, or a reason to stop waiting. All three are below, with the sources for each claim, because the Galaxy Ring 2 has been rumoured for two summers running and most of what circulates is recycled.
What Samsung has actually said
On 30 June 2026, Hon Pak, Samsung's Senior Vice President and head of its Digital Health team, told Forbes that a next-generation Galaxy Ring is in development. He gave no date and no spec. He said software and services, not sensors, would be where Samsung differentiates the ring, and when asked about compatibility beyond Android he said he was smiling but could not comment, adding that people would be pleased with some upcoming releases. That is as close as a Samsung executive comes to confirming a product.
That is the complete list of official statements. Everything else is supply chain reporting, which has been accurate about Samsung's timing before but is not a press release.
What the reporting says
| Source and date | Claim |
|---|---|
| ETNews, 5 May 2026 | Release within 2026 is effectively impossible. Samsung is adjusting the launch to early next year. The sequel focuses on battery, comfort and sensor accuracy, with component layout optimised to cut thickness and weight. |
| ETNews, same report | Battery target is 9 to 10 days, up from the current 7. Sleep analysis accuracy and cardiovascular insights are the health priorities. Non-invasive glucose is a long-term candidate, not a Ring 2 feature, because of accuracy, regulation and sensor size. |
| Forbes, 12 May 2026 | The delay coincides with Samsung's public work on silicon-carbon battery cells, which could explain how a thinner ring gets longer life. |
| 9to5Google and Android Central, May 2026 | Early 2027 launch, with the January or February Unpacked as the natural slot. The original Ring launched alongside the summer foldables; the sequel will not. |
| Android Authority, 30 June 2026 | Samsung confirms development. Software and services are the differentiator. iPhone support is hinted at but not confirmed. |
What the original Galaxy Ring is, for context
The first Galaxy Ring launched in July 2024 at $399, with a titanium shell about 7mm wide and 2.6mm thick, sizes 5 to 13, a battery Samsung rated at up to seven days, 10ATM water resistance and a charging case in the box. It tracks sleep stages, heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature and cycle data, and feeds Samsung Health's Energy Score and Galaxy AI coaching. It has no subscription, which is its best argument against Oura. Its weakest is that it is Android-only and really Galaxy-only for the AI features, so iPhone owners have never been in the market.
That last point is why the iPhone hint matters more than the battery number. Oura has sold more than five million rings by being platform-neutral. A Galaxy Ring 2 that pairs with an iPhone, even with a reduced feature set, would be the first serious challenger to Oura on Apple's platform that comes with no membership fee.
What to expect, feature by feature
| Galaxy Ring (2024) | Galaxy Ring 2, reported | |
|---|---|---|
| Launch | July 2024, with the Z Fold 6 | Early 2027, probably the S27 Unpacked |
| Price | $399 | Not leaked. $399 is the only anchor |
| Body | About 7mm wide, 2.6mm thick, 2.3 to 3g | Thinner and lighter through rearranged internals |
| Battery | Up to 7 days, size dependent | 9 to 10 days targeted |
| Sleep | Stages, score, Samsung Health coaching | Accuracy improvements, the stated priority |
| Heart | Continuous HR, SpO2, skin temperature | Expanded cardiovascular insights |
| Glucose | No | Long-term candidate only. Not expected on Ring 2 |
| Phones | Android, best with Galaxy | iPhone support strongly hinted |
| Subscription | None | None expected; Samsung says services are the differentiator, which could mean a paid tier eventually |
Should you wait for the Galaxy Ring 2?
Wait if
- You own a Galaxy phone and a Galaxy Watch. The Ring 2 will be built around that pairing, and a first-generation Ring bought now at $399 will look expensive in March.
- Battery is your deciding factor. Seven days is fine; ten days is a meaningful change in how often you think about the charger.
- You are on an iPhone and want a ring without a membership. If the hint is real, the Ring 2 is the product you have been waiting for. If it is not, nothing is lost by waiting three months to find out.
Buy now if
- You want the best sleep analysis available today. That is the Oura Ring 5, with its membership, and the Ring 2 is not expected to change that ranking.
- You want no subscription and no wait. RingConn Gen 3 and the Ultrahuman Ring AIR are on sale now, work on both platforms and charge nothing monthly. Our sleep tracking rings guide ranks them.
- You can find the original Galaxy Ring well under $399. Samsung and retailers have discounted it repeatedly through 2026, and at a deep enough price it is a good ring with a known seven-day battery.
The glucose rumour, dealt with
Every Samsung wearable rumour cycle includes non-invasive blood glucose, and the Galaxy Ring 2 is no exception. The ETNews report that started the early-2027 timeline is explicit that glucose is a mid to long-term candidate, blocked by accuracy, regulatory approval and the size of the sensor needed. No consumer wearable from any brand measures glucose optically today. Do not buy, or wait, on that feature.
Frequently asked questions
When is the Galaxy Ring 2 coming out?
Not in 2026. Reporting from ETNews in May 2026, picked up by 9to5Google and Android Central, points to early 2027, most likely the Galaxy Unpacked in January or February that launches the S27. Samsung confirmed in June that the ring is in development but gave no date.
Will the Galaxy Ring 2 work with iPhone?
Samsung has not confirmed it. Hon Pak, who runs Samsung's digital health team, declined to answer the question in June 2026 while saying people would be pleased with upcoming news. That is widely read as a hint. Treat it as unconfirmed until a product page says otherwise.
How much will the Galaxy Ring 2 cost?
No price has leaked. The original Galaxy Ring launched at $399 in 2024. The Oura Ring 5 is $399 to $499 plus a membership, so Samsung has room to hold its price and still undercut Oura over three years.
What will be new in the Galaxy Ring 2?
According to the reporting: a thinner and lighter body, battery life of 9 to 10 days instead of 7, more accurate sleep analysis, expanded cardiovascular insights and possibly iPhone support. Non-invasive glucose is not expected.
Should I buy the Galaxy Ring now or wait?
Wait if you are a Galaxy phone owner who wants the longer battery, or an iPhone owner hoping for support. Buy now if you find the original at a deep discount, or buy an Oura Ring 5, RingConn Gen 3 or Ultrahuman Ring AIR if you want a ring today on either platform.
