Bevel vs Gentler Streak (2026): Health OS or Train-Easier App?

Fitcoin fitness rewards app on iPhone and Android, with Sleep, Recovery and Energy

Bevel and Gentler Streak sit on the same Apple Watch and answer opposite moods. Bevel is a health OS: Recovery, Strain, Sleep, Stress, Energy Bank, optional food and lifts. Gentler Streak is an award-winning workout tracker that adapts the day's ask downward when you are run down, injured or on holiday. People bounce between them because both promise to make the Watch useful. They are not two skins of the same number.

We already called Gentler the personality swap in apps like Bevel. The Athlytic fork is Bevel vs Athlytic. This page is the dedicated comparison.

Short verdict: Pick Gentler Streak if Bevel's cockpit made you train angry and you want a Watch app that tells you to go easier. Pick Bevel if you wanted five named scores and you will use them. Try the free tiers for two weeks. Pay only after a session actually changed.

Disclosure: Fitcoin is our product. We are not affiliated with Apple, Garmin, Whoop, Bevel, Athlytic, Livity, Gentler Streak, HRV4Training or the other apps named here. Where Fitcoin appears, it is as a Sleep, Recovery and Energy companion that also scores workouts for partner rewards, not a PayPal cash-out app. Scores described below are wellness estimates for general fitness. They are not medical devices and they do not diagnose illness.

Two jobs

Bevel interprets overnight Watch samples into a morning Recovery percentage, then Strain through the day, with Target Strain as the suggested window. The recipe uses resting heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, SpO2 and wrist temperature against a 60-day baseline. Sleep Score is stages and heart-rate dip. Energy Bank carries yesterday. Nutrition and Strength Builder sit on the free plan; Bevel Intelligence, Health Records and Biological Age sit on Pro. That is a lot of product. The score dictionary is here.

Gentler Streak, built by a small indie team, won Apple's 2022 Watch App of the Year and a 2024 Apple Design Award (Social Impact). The public line is personalised guidance that adapts to daily capability: move consistently, not constantly. It tracks activity, heart-rate zones, sleep duration, consistency and stages, and it calls for rest days around illness, injury or vacation instead of chasing the same ring every morning. Premium unlocks the fuller readiness picture, deeper sleep analysis and the complete journal. The free tier already covers the progress bar, widgets and the core streak. Health and fitness data, Gentler says, stays on-device with no account required for the core loop. Confirm the live privacy label.

Price, without the keynote

Gentler is the cheaper paid year if you need Premium: $39.99 versus Bevel Pro at $99.99, and Gentler still sells a lifetime. Family-sharing SKUs show up on the App Store (yearly family figures have sat at $29.99, $35.99 and $59.99 depending on the offer). Bevel's free tier is unusually generous for a cockpit app: the named scores are not all locked. Gentler's free tier is unusually generous for a coaching app: you can live on the streak and widgets for a long time before Premium feels necessary.

The trap is stacking both subscriptions on a Watch, iCloud and maybe Fitness+. Pick one interpretation layer. If you cannot remember the last time Target Strain or Gentler's rest-day prompt changed a Tuesday, cancel. The Watch still records the session.

If Bevel felt expensive and Gentler felt too soft, Livity is the cheaper cockpit: Bevel vs Livity. If the strap was always the product, that is Bevel vs Whoop.

Frequently asked questions

Is Gentler Streak better than Bevel?

Gentler Streak is the better pick if you want adaptive, rest-friendly coaching and a beautiful Watch app, not a five-score cockpit. Bevel is the better pick if you want Recovery, Strain, Sleep, Stress, Energy Bank and optional nutrition and strength in one OS. They are not trying to be the same product.

How much does Gentler Streak cost versus Bevel?

Gentler Streak is free to download. Premium is listed at $8.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with lifetime SKUs that have started around $59.99 on promotion, plus family-sharing plans. Bevel keeps core scores free and lists Pro at $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Confirm the live App Store; both move.

Does Gentler Streak work on Android?

No. Gentler Streak and Bevel are iPhone and Apple Watch apps. Health data stays on-device in Gentler's public privacy story. There is no Play Store clone that is the real product.

Which is closer to Whoop?

Bevel's named Recovery, Strain, Sleep and Energy Bank is the closer dashboard. Gentler Streak is closer to a coach who tells you to go easier. Neither is Whoop's strap sampling. See Bevel vs Whoop if the strap is still the real question.

Can I use Bevel and Gentler Streak together?

You can. You should pick one headline for whether today is a push day. Running a Strain percentage next to Gentler's softer ask is how breakfast gets loud.
