Health Connect Apps That Reward Workouts (Android, 2026)

Fitcoin fitness rewards app on iPhone and Android, with Sleep, Recovery and Energy

Health Connect is Android’s health data hub, not a rewards app. Workouts land there from Samsung Health, Garmin, a watch face or a gym logger. A second app may then read those sessions and pay attention. Most pay-you-to-walk titles never open that door; they want the phone’s step counter. This page is for people who lift, ride, swim or run on Android and are tired of being treated like a pedometer.

If you wanted the iPhone version of this pipe, see how to turn Apple Health into rewards. If you wanted the product launch note, see the Android launch note. If you wanted readiness rather than payday, see Galaxy Watch recovery.

Short verdict: Make the workout appear in Health Connect first. Then connect one rewards layer that lists workouts or heart-rate minutes, not steps only. Bevel and Athlytic are iPhone apps, so they will not fill this gap.

Disclosure: Fitcoin is our product. We are not affiliated with Apple, Garmin, Whoop, Bevel, Athlytic, HRV4Training or the other apps named here. Where Fitcoin appears, it is as a Sleep, Recovery and Energy companion that also scores workouts for partner rewards, not a PayPal cash-out app. Scores described below are wellness estimates for general fitness. They are not medical devices and they do not diagnose illness.

The pipe, in three doors

  1. Write: Samsung Health, Garmin, Fitbit, Strava, a gym app, or the watch must save a workout Health Connect understands.
  2. Hub: Health Connect holds the record. You grant read and write per app. This is the new gravity well now Google Fit is being retired as a destination.
  3. Read: the rewards app pulls steps, exercise sessions, heart rate and energy. If it never asked for Exercise, it is still a walking app wearing a gym hoodie.

If the first door fails, nothing else matters. Open Health Connect and look. What feels like a broken rewards app is usually the watch never writing Tuesday’s session.

Permissions that are not optional

In Health Connect, the rewards app needs the categories it claims to use: Steps, Exercise, Heart Rate, Active Calories, and Sleep if it sells sleep. Samsung Health needs to be allowed to write those same categories, and Garmin’s app too. Revoke one write and a missing gym week is usually that permission, not a mystery bug.

Do not grant a random coin app every Health Connect toggle just in case. That is how you donate a heart-rate archive to an ad SDK. Fitcoin’s pitch is selected categories for scoring, not a copy of your entire medical life. Read the live permission list. Ours is in the privacy notice, not in this paragraph as a substitute for it.

Samsung Health and Garmin, the two messy writers

Galaxy Watch users live in Samsung Health. Energy Score is a readiness number, covered on the Galaxy recovery page. For rewards, the question is narrower: did the workout become an Exercise session Health Connect can show? If Samsung hoards it, Fitcoin cannot invent it.

On Garmin, Connect is the training log and Health Connect is the embassy. Enable the write, wait for a sync, check the hub, then check the rewards app. Skipping those four steps is how forum threads stay alive.

The iOS recovery apps are not coming

Bevel, Athlytic and Gentler Streak are iPhone apps. The Android Whoop-without-Whoop list is Samsung Energy Score, Whoop’s own strap, and Fitcoin Recovery on Health Connect. Lookalikes on the Play Store are rarely worth a paid APK, especially one that asks for every permission plus your contacts.

If you want readiness on Galaxy, see Galaxy Watch recovery apps. If you want rewards for the session, this page is the one. Different jobs, same Watch.

A boring Android stack that works

  • One writer: Samsung Health or Garmin, not both fighting over the same set.
  • Health Connect as the inbox. Look at it once a week.
  • One rewards reader that lists workouts.
  • At most one step cash app if you also walk a lot.
  • No fourth AI coach from an ad.

If you are on iPhone, the sibling piece is Apple Health rewards. This page covers the Android hub so the two do not get mashed together.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Health Connect app that rewards workouts?

If you want mixed-sport scoring plus partner rewards on Android, Fitcoin is built for that (disclosed). Paceline and Evidation can also credit connected activity. Pedometers that only read steps are not Health Connect workout apps, even if they sit on the Play Store.

Do Bevel and Athlytic work with Health Connect?

No. Bevel and Athlytic are iPhone and Apple Watch products. A Play Store clone with Whoop in the screenshots is not a substitute.

Does Google Fit still pay me?

Google Fit as a destination is being wound into Health Connect. Reward apps should read Health Connect records rather than an old Fit dashboard. Check the live permissions screen.

Will Samsung Health workouts count?

Yes, if Samsung Health writes the session into Health Connect and the rewards app reads that workout type. If the chain breaks at either end, the session will not count. Confirm the session in Health Connect before blaming the rewards layer.

Is this the same as Apple Health rewards?

The idea is the same; the hub is different. Apple Health is covered in the iPhone article. This page is about Android only.
