Helio Strap Pro vs Garmin CIRQA (2026): HYROX Dual Sensor or Open Garmin Strap?

Fitcoin fitness rewards app on iPhone and Android

Same sticker price, opposite priorities. Helio Strap Pro spends its $199.99 budget on a second IMU for HYROX. Garmin CIRQA spends it on Garmin Connect depth: Body Battery, training readiness, HRV status and a strap that plays nicely with the rest of a Garmin watch collection. Neither charges Whoop rent. Your sport decides the winner.

Quick verdict

HYROX specialists: Helio Strap Pro. Everyone else who wants a pay-once screenless strap with a mature training graph: Garmin CIRQA. If you already own a Garmin watch, CIRQA is the obvious second sensor. If you never race HYROX, do not buy the Pro for the waist clip.

Software and future-proofing

Garmin Connect is still the stronger long-term training log. CIRQA inherits that gravity: readiness, Body Battery, HRV status and a decade of watch owners who will not open Zepp. Zepp and HybridCharge are capable and improving, but the Pro's unique value remains the HYROX waist module, not the cloud.

Remember the Pro catch: full station analysis at launch wants Balance 3 or Balance Ultra. CIRQA does not demand a second Garmin purchase to unlock its core loop. We covered CIRQA in depth in Garmin CIRQA review and the Pro in Helio Strap Pro review.

Training use cases

HYROX race week, simulation days and station-level fatigue: Pro. Mixed running, cycling and strength inside Garmin's world: CIRQA. CrossFit or open gym without HYROX: neither waist module helps you today; CIRQA or the original Helio Strap are cleaner buys than the Pro kit.

Who should buy which

Helio Strap Pro:

  • HYROX on the calendar.
  • Amazfit-friendly (or willing to buy Balance 3 / Ultra).
  • Want station muscular load Whoop and Garmin do not offer.

CIRQA:

  • Already in Garmin Connect.
  • Want the safest pay-once Whoop alternative without a niche sport module.
  • Care more about Body Battery than HYROX stations.

Hidden total cost

Both list at $199.99. The Pro's honest total may include a Balance 3 or Balance Ultra if you do not already own one for HYROX Race and Simulation. CIRQA's honest total may include the Garmin watch you already meant to buy, or nothing extra if Connect on phone is enough for you.

Add those numbers before you call them equal. A Pro kit plus a Balance watch is a different shopping trip from a solo CIRQA.

Data ownership and multi-app life

Garmin Connect remains one of the easiest training graphs to live in long term, with broad Health Connect and Apple Health paths. Zepp is fine and improving, and Helio's HR broadcast helps external devices, but Garmin's gravity is why CIRQA feels "safer" to cautious buyers even when HYROX is tempting.

If your identity is Amazfit hybrid racing, ignore that gravity. If your identity is "I just want a Whoop alternative that will still make sense in 2028," CIRQA is the conservative $200.

Decision checklist

  • HYROX stations this year? Pro (plus Balance watch plan).
  • Already own Garmin watches? CIRQA.
  • Want Body Battery and Connect history more than muscular load? CIRQA.
  • Want HR broadcast into gym equipment either way? Both work; pick by ecosystem.
  • Not racing HYROX and not in Garmin? Consider Polar Loop or the $99 Helio Strap before either $200 kit.

Equal stickers hide unequal shopping trips. Price the Balance watch into the Pro column before you call them a toss-up.

Same $199.99, different products pretending to be peers

Price comparison pages love putting these two in one table because both refuse Whoop rent at the same sticker. Under the sticker they solve different jobs. Helio Strap Pro is a dual-sensor HYROX kit: arm optical HR plus waist IMU, with full station analysis at launch tied to Amazfit Balance 3 or Balance Ultra. Garmin CIRQA is a single screenless strap that inherits Garmin Connect: Body Battery, training readiness, HRV status and a decade of watch-owner gravity.

If you never race HYROX, the Pro's waist module is idle kit. If you live in Garmin Connect, CIRQA is the second sensor that feels obvious. If you are Amazfit-native and HYROX is your season, CIRQA is the wrong religion even when the price matches.

Also price the hidden extras. Pro plus a Balance watch is not a $200 shopping trip. CIRQA plus the Forerunner you already meant to buy is not a $200 shopping trip either. Equal stickers hide unequal carts.

Training depth versus sport-specific hardware

Garmin wins long-term training logs. Connect remains one of the easiest places to keep years of runs, rides and strength without a membership wall on the core loop. CIRQA plugs into that world with HR broadcast over Garmin's ANT+/BLE paths and the readiness tools watch owners already understand.

Amazfit wins the HYROX-specific sensor problem. Whoop and Garmin do not ship a waist IMU aimed at station muscular load on SkiErg, sleds, burpees, rowing, farmer carries, sandbag lunges and wall balls. HybridCharge can fold that load into capacity during supported modes. That is real differentiation, not a marketing synonym for "another screenless band."

Outside HYROX Race and Simulation, the waist piece does not currently help CrossFit or open gym the way shoppers hope. Amazfit has promised broader modes without a firm date. Until that ships, non-HYROX athletes should compare CIRQA to the original $99 Helio Strap, not to the Pro kit.

Comfort, battery and daily friction

CIRQA is one module to charge and wear, about ten days claimed, built for people who already tolerate Garmin straps. The Pro asks for an arm module (about eleven days claimed), a long-life waist IMU used on HYROX days, and potentially a Balance watch on the other wrist. More kit, more cables, more packing list. Worth it for race season. Annoying for "I just wanted a Whoop alternative."

Both broadcast HR to external gear. Exact protocols differ. Gym equipment compatibility is a check-your-bike-and-treadmill job either way, but neither locks HR inside a membership the way Whoop does.

Verdict: which one should you buy?

Choose Helio Strap Pro if:

  • HYROX stations are why you are shopping.
  • You will wear the waist clip and have a Balance 3 or Ultra plan.
  • You want Amazfit's hybrid stack more than Garmin Connect history.

Choose Garmin CIRQA if:

  • You already speak Garmin, or want the safest pay-once Whoop alternative.
  • Body Battery and Connect matter more than station muscular load.
  • You want one strap, not a HYROX kit.

Our take: HYROX athletes buy the Pro with eyes open about the Balance watch. Everyone else defaults to CIRQA, or saves money with the original Helio Strap if Amazfit is already home and HYROX is not.

Frequently asked questions

Same price, so which is better?

Better depends on sport. HYROX: Pro. General training in Garmin world: CIRQA.

Does CIRQA do HYROX station load?

Not like the Pro's waist IMU. Garmin covers workouts broadly without station-level HYROX muscular load.

Which broadcasts HR?

Both can feed external devices. Exact protocols differ (Bluetooth focus on Amazfit, Garmin ANT+/BLE).

Any subscription later?

Neither requires Whoop-style membership for core features today.

Do I need a Garmin watch for CIRQA?

No, but CIRQA is happiest inside an existing Garmin life.

Do I need an Amazfit watch for the Pro?

For full HYROX station analysis at launch, yes: Balance 3 or Balance Ultra.
