How Much Does CashWalk Pay? Coins per Step, Gift Card Value and a Worked Month (2026)

Published September 8, 2026 • By Harris Khan • 8 min read

CashWalk pays 1 coin for every 100 steps, and most accounts stop earning at 100 coins a day, so a 10,000-step day is worth about 10 cents in the US, where 5,000 coins buys a $5 gift card. A perfect month of walking and collecting is roughly $3 of Amazon, Walmart or Starbucks credit, and in the UK, where thresholds of 20,000 to 50,000 coins for a £5 voucher are reported, it is under £1. This page is the payout calculator: coin rates, caps, gift card thresholds, bonus coins, time to a first reward and country differences. The verdict

CashWalk pays in real gift cards, but at a tenth of a cent per coin the walking is worth about $3 a month at best. The 100-coin daily cap means extra steps past 10,000 earn nothing on most accounts, coins vanish if you forget the daily treasure box tap, and there is no PayPal or bank option in the official app. US users with a $5 card at 5,000 coins get a reward every seven weeks or so. UK users facing 20,000-coin-plus thresholds can wait most of a year for £5. Treat it as a free pedometer that occasionally buys a coffee, and it is fine. Treat it as pay and it is a disappointment.

CashWalk coins per step

The earning rule is the simplest part. CashWalk's own FAQ states: 1 coin for every 100 steps. So 2,500 steps is 25 coins, 5,000 steps is 50 coins and 10,000 steps is 100 coins. The cap is where the confusion starts. Independent reviewers, long-term users and the current iPhone listing all describe a 100-coin daily maximum, reached at 10,000 steps, with any further steps earning nothing. CashWalk's website and its Android listing advertise "rewards on up to 20,000 steps daily", which would be 200 coins. We could not find an account that documents receiving 200 walking coins consistently, so treat 100 as the working figure and 200 as a possibility your app may or may not show. The difference matters: it halves or doubles every timeline on this page.

Coins are not banked automatically. CashWalk counts steps in the background using Motion & Fitness on iPhone or the Physical activity permission on Android, but the coins accumulate in a treasure box on the lock screen and inside the app, and you must tap to collect them before the daily reset at midnight. Uncollected coins disappear. On Android the lock screen widget is the main collection point and is also where the ads live; on iPhone the treasure box sits inside the app. Collected coins then expire one year after the date you collected them, and you can see the amount due to expire next month in your coin history.

What a coin is worth in gift cards

A CashWalk coin has no fixed cash value. It is worth whatever your catalogue charges for the card you want, divided by the card's face value, and that number differs by country, platform and sometimes by account. In the United States the long-standing anchor is 5,000 coins for a $5 gift card, which puts a coin at $0.001 and a 10,000-step day at 10 cents. Some US users report $5 options from 2,500 to 3,000 coins on certain brands, which would double the value; others report higher walls. US brands listed over time include Amazon, Walmart, Starbucks, Google Play, Apple, eBay, Uber, Target, Sephora, Nike, Spotify, Xbox, Chipotle, Subway and Dunkin', though not every brand starts at $5 and stock changes.

The UK picture is worse and has moved a lot. When CashWalk launched in Britain, UK reviewers recorded £5 vouchers for Amazon, Tesco and ASDA at roughly 1,750 to 3,750 coins. Reported thresholds then climbed through 5,000, 10,000, 12,500 and 20,000 coins, and some UK users in 2025 and 2026 report 40,000 to 50,000 coins for a £5 card. At 20,000 coins a coin is worth 0.025p and a 10,000-step day 2.5p; at 50,000 it is 1p a day. We cannot verify a single current UK figure because the catalogue is account-specific, so open the Gift Cards tab and read your own price before doing any maths. Redeemed cards cannot be exchanged or refunded, and a lower-value card is sometimes only unlocked after you have redeemed a larger one.

Delivery is not the problem. Users generally report gift card codes arriving within a day or two, and successful redemptions are the norm in recent store reviews. The complaints are about the wait and the moving thresholds, not about cards failing to arrive.

Worked example: a 10,000-step-a-day walker over a month

Assume a 100-coin daily cap and no bonus coins. The table converts the same 30 days of walking into value at the thresholds people actually report.

ScenarioCoins per 30 daysThresholdMonthly valueDays to first card
US, every day collected3,0005,000 coins = $5$3.0050
US, forgets the tap 6 days in 302,4005,000 coins = $5$2.4063
US, lower 2,500-coin card on some brands3,0002,500 coins = $5$6.0025
US, 200-coin cap if your app allows 20,000 steps6,0005,000 coins = $5$6.0025
UK, 20,000-coin threshold3,00020,000 coins = £5£0.75200
UK, 50,000-coin threshold3,00050,000 coins = £5£0.30500

So a diligent US walker earns about $36 a year in gift cards, which matches what independent reviewers have reported for years: $5 every six to eight weeks, $30 to $40 annually, occasionally $50 to $60 with lower thresholds or bonus coins. A UK walker at a 20,000-coin wall earns roughly £9 a year and needs to hold coins for 200 days without any of them expiring, which is tight against the one-year limit if the threshold rises again mid-way. Nobody credible reports more than a few dollars a month from steps alone.

Bonus coins: Lucky Cash, lucky boxes and ads

Everything beyond the 100 walking coins comes from engagement with advertising. The Daily Lucky Box section offers a handful of video ads a day, each paying a small number of coins; one reviewer's first box paid 500 coins, then subsequent videos paid 5 to 15 coins each. Lucky Cash is a scratch-card style feature in the US app where you reveal a ticket, usually after an ad, for a chance at a coin prize. There are also Walk Battles, in-app games, a referral bonus for each friend who joins, surveys and a Tapjoy offerwall where installing or paying in other apps earns larger coin amounts.

Used every day, the ad boxes might add 30 to 100 coins, which on a US account is 3 to 10 cents for five to ten minutes of watching, trimming a 50-day wait for a $5 card to around 35 to 40 days. It does not change the order of magnitude, and once you are watching ads or installing apps for coins you are no longer being paid to walk. Is there any cash or PayPal option?

No. The official CashWalk from Cashwalk Labs, the Seattle-based US arm of the Korean company Nudge Healthcare, pays in gift cards only. Its website, FAQ and store listings do not list PayPal, bank transfer, Venmo or Cash App, and we found no recent verified report of a UK or US user receiving cash. If you see a listing called something like "CashWalk: Walk, Work, Earn Cash" promising PayPal or Coinbase payouts, it is an unrelated app trading on the name; the real developer is Cashwalk Labs on both stores. If a cash route matters to you, WeWard and Macadam offer bank transfers in supported countries, and we compare them in CashWalk vs WeWard and Macadam vs CashWalk.

Why the Korean original pays differently

CashWalk began in South Korea in 2016, where the app (캐시워크, run by Nudge Healthcare) has more than 20 million registered users and pays in a currency called cash that is spent inside its own shop on coffee coupons, convenience store vouchers, product deals and quizzes, again with a 100-per-day walking cap. It is a huge domestic business, with reported 2022 revenue of 79 billion won, and that scale funds richer promotions than the international app can offer. The global version launched on Google Play in the US in December 2020, added iOS later, then Canada, and since 2023 the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. You can switch country inside the app and keep your balance, but the catalogue and thresholds you see are the local ones. When someone quotes CashWalk earnings from a Korean blog or video, they are describing a different product with a different reward economy.

Countries and platforms

At publication the international CashWalk is available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy on iPhone and Android. Gift card brands are local to each market, so US users see Walmart and Target while UK users see Tesco and ASDA alongside Amazon. CashWalk warns that a VPN or emulator can get an account suspended. The app was briefly removed from Google Play in early 2025 before returning, so check the developer name is Cashwalk Labs before installing.

Who the payout suits

CashWalk's pay is worth it if: you already walk 10,000 steps most days, you want a small Amazon or Starbucks card every couple of months without spending anything, your catalogue shows a $5 card at 5,000 coins or fewer, and you will genuinely remember the daily tap.

Look elsewhere if: you want cash, you are in the UK facing a 20,000-coin-plus threshold, or you train in ways a pedometer cannot see. Our gift cards for walking guide ranks the voucher apps, CashWalk vs Sweatcoin and MoneyWalk vs CashWalk cover the closest alternatives, and our own head-to-head with CashWalk sets out how Fitcoin differs: it reads the walks, runs and gym sessions already in Apple Health or Health Connect, scores them as FitScore, and ranks you in weekly Leagues with partner rewards. Those are partner rewards, not cash, and we say so plainly.

Frequently asked questions

How many steps is one CashWalk coin?

100 steps. CashWalk's published rate is 1 coin per 100 steps, so 10,000 steps is 100 coins. Most accounts stop earning walking coins at 100 a day, although CashWalk's website and Android listing advertise rewards on up to 20,000 steps, which would be 200 coins. Use the ceiling shown in your own app.

How much is 5,000 CashWalk coins worth?

In the US, 5,000 coins has for years bought a $5 gift card, which makes a coin worth a tenth of a cent and a 10,000-step day worth 10 cents. Thresholds vary by account and country, and UK users have reported needing 20,000 to 50,000 coins for a £5 voucher, which puts a coin at a fortieth of a penny or less. Check the price in your own catalogue before you plan around it.

Does CashWalk pay real money to PayPal?

No. The official CashWalk from Cashwalk Labs pays in retailer gift cards only, and neither its website nor its FAQ lists PayPal, bank transfer or Cash App. Apps in the stores that promise PayPal or crypto cash-outs under a similar name are unrelated products. The Korean original pays in a separate 'cash' currency spent inside its own shop, which is not withdrawable either.

How long does it take to earn a $5 gift card on CashWalk?

At the 100-coin daily cap and a 5,000-coin threshold, 50 days of 10,000-step days with every treasure box collected. Miss one day in five and it is about 63 days. Daily Lucky Box ad videos worth 5 to 15 coins each can shave a week or two off. In the UK, a 20,000-coin threshold at the same cap takes 200 days.

Method: Checked September 8, 2026 using CashWalk's official website and FAQ at cashwalklabs.io, the current Google Play and App Store listings from Cashwalk Labs, Nudge Healthcare's Korean site and press coverage of its US, Canadian and European launches, and recent user reports and independent reviews from the US and UK. Coin rates, daily caps, gift card brands, redemption thresholds, bonus features and country availability change, and thresholds in particular differ between accounts; where we could not verify a single figure, such as a current UK threshold or whether your account earns to 10,000 or 20,000 steps, we have said so and shown a range. We did not redeem a card for this article. Fitcoin has no commercial relationship with CashWalk or Nudge Healthcare. Not financial advice.
