The verdict
Winwalk is the better default gift-card walking app. Its official model is easy to audit: one coin per 100 steps, up to 100 walking coins each day. It counts indoor and treadmill movement, does not need GPS for the basic pedometer, and is now on both iPhone and Android.
Choose CashWalk if you regularly exceed 10,000 steps and your live catalogue shows a useful card at a competitive threshold. CashWalk advertises rewards on up to 20,000 daily steps, but its coin prices and limits can vary. That flexibility is an advantage only when the redemption side is favourable.
Neither app is a side income. The reward for steps alone is deliberately small, and optional surveys, games or offers should be judged as separate paid-attention tasks.

How the walking coins compare
The base rate looks identical. CashWalk and Winwalk each publish one coin for every 100 steps. Winwalk's official maximum from walking is 100 coins per day at 10,000 steps. CashWalk's current website and Android listing advertise rewards on as many as 20,000 daily steps, while its current iPhone listing says 10,000. That conflict makes the ceiling platform, region or account-dependent. Use the limit shown inside your app.
That does not prove CashWalk pays twice as much. A coin in one app has no relationship to a coin in the other. If CashWalk charges twice as many coins for the same card value, its larger daily coin total creates no advantage. Both companies reserve flexibility over rewards, and regional catalogues can differ.
Use one calculation: choose a card you would buy anyway, divide its coin price by the walking coins you realistically collect each day, and compare the resulting days. Ignore sign-up bonuses and offer walls in the first calculation. This approach also avoids unsupported dollar-per-month claims based on an old screenshot.
Gift cards and payout mechanics
CashWalk: its official site highlights Amazon, Walmart and Starbucks, among other gift cards. You select a reward after reaching the threshold displayed to your account. Redeemed cards cannot be exchanged or refunded, and collected coins expire one year after collection. CashWalk is best understood as retailer credit, not a PayPal app.
Winwalk: official listings highlight Amazon, Walmart and Google Play in the US, while other countries can receive different merchants. The developer says cards are delivered in the app after redemption. Winwalk's terms say coin requirements may change, rewards are restricted to countries where the merchant applies, and users may need fraud-prevention checks before a first card.
Before starting either app, open the reward screen. Confirm the smallest useful denomination, coin threshold and merchant's local terms. A reward that cannot be spent in your country has no practical value, even if the app can be downloaded.
The realistic catches: claims, ads and account rules
CashWalk explicitly requires a treasure-box tap before the daily reset. Uncollected walking coins disappear. Winwalk also expects regular interaction to collect coins, with adverts, video bonuses, surveys, games and partner missions available around the core pedometer. Neither is completely passive.
The optional tasks can grow a balance faster, but they change what is being rewarded. A survey pays for answers. A sponsored game pays for attention or a commercial action. Keep those coins separate when comparing the value of walking.
Fraud controls matter too. Winwalk's current terms allow phone verification, Android SIM requirements and a minimum amount of walking-earned coins before the first redemption. VPNs, multiple accounts and manipulated steps can lead to forfeiture. CashWalk can also vary features and limits by account. Do not plan around a loophole or assume another user's screen applies to you.
Country availability and phone support
For CashWalk, the safest current availability label is United States and Canada. Its official site links to iPhone and Android downloads, but a visible store page elsewhere does not guarantee the same rewards. Check your local store rather than using a VPN, which can conflict with reward-app fraud rules.
Winwalk is also on iPhone and Android. Its iPhone app requires iOS 16.4 or later. Official material confirms that merchants and redemption eligibility vary by country, but it does not provide one dependable public list of every supported reward market. Search your own app store and inspect the live catalogue. On either service, download availability and useful payout availability are different questions.
Privacy, health data and advertising
Both apps need movement data. CashWalk directs iPhone users to Motion & Fitness and Android users to Physical activity permission. Winwalk says its basic pedometer uses the phone's built-in sensor without GPS, and it can read supported health-platform steps. This is more proportionate than continuous location tracking for an ordinary step counter.
The larger privacy consideration is advertising. Winwalk's privacy policy describes interest-based advertising and provides account-data deletion routes through the app or support. CashWalk's store privacy label should be reviewed for the exact data linked to advertising, analytics and app functionality in your region. Store disclosures can differ by platform and can be updated.
Grant only activity access needed for counting. Treat every survey, game and offer-wall partner as a separate company with separate terms.
